CASE'ing Keva!

Keva is celebrating her 1 year blog anniversary!  Congratulations Keva! :) In honor of her anniversary she is giving away a $25 gift certificate to PTI or Verve.  In order to have a chance to win, she is having a fun challenge.  All you have to do is choose one of her cards or projects to CASE.

Here is the card that I CASED...

I needed to make a sympathy card and so I thought the simplicity of her card would work perfectly for me.  Here is my CASE of Keva's design...

I tried to stick to her simple clean design as this is a sympathy card.

There is so much inspiration on her blog, please stop by and check it out!

Thank You Card

This is a very simple thank you card that I made for a family member that did a huge favor for us.  We recently gutted and remodeled a bathroom in our home and he personally managed the entire project for us.  I hear about remodeling nightmares all the time but he made this job look so easy...the advantage of having a General Contractor in the family.  :)

I tried to keep this card very simple and masculine.  Masculine cards can be hard for me to make, but this one came together rather quickly.

Embossed "tools" and "road marks" papers are from The Guy Stack, DCWV.  This is a must have collection for every crafter! :)

Sentiment is from Inkadinkado, Thank You Words.  Buttons are from Amy Butler Lotus Collection.

Baby Shower Card

This is a card I made for a friend's baby shower.  Her husband loves monkeys so to go along with their animal theme, this blanket was included in their registry.  I am always looking for an excuse to use my Create a Critter cartridge and this was my perfect opportunity.  I also included this blanket as part of my gift for the shower.   This was a fun card to make! :)

The inspiration for my card came from this blanket!

Base of the card is cut out from the Wild Card cartridge and the monkey was cut from the Create a Critter cartridge.

The sentiment is from Fiskars Precious Baby stamp set.  Monkey is adhered with pop dots to add dimension to the card.  Twine is from the Pink Paislee collection.  Also added tiny googly eyes for fun! :)

Another Blog Award!

Thank you Kim for awarding me the Stylish Blogger Award! :)

The rules for the Stylish Blogger Award are:
  1. Thank the person who gave it to you and link back to their blog.
  2. Share 8 things about yourself.
  3. Pass this on to 8 others that you have recently discovered.
Since I've already shared things about myself in my previous awards I will now pass this award on to the following individuals:

Project Life

I have been working on several different projects lately, one of which is Project Life.  I originally started out doing the digital version of this project and although I enjoy digital scrapbooking, I quickly realized that I would much rather do this album in the traditional form!  I guess my husband got tired of listening to me saying that I should have ordered the kit, he surprised me with it!  :)  I felt like a kid in a candy store! :)

Here is my cover page:
Switched out the 4 journaling/filler cards for individual pictures of each of us!

Used rub-ons for my title and added floss with a flower and a button to add a little bit of interest to the title page.

This project might seem a bit overwhelming but here is my approach towards making this a fun project.  These are also a few of the reasons why I din't want to continue the digital version.
  • I am doing a monthly review, not a picture a day.  I thought this approach would help alleviate any unnecessary pressure of trying to take a picture a day.
  • I am adding additional pages, monthly recaps and even traditional layouts.
  • I am including embellishments and incorporating stamping techniques whenever possible.
  • I am also including digital overlays on my pictures.
  • I will be switching out the original Turquoise album to a We R Memory Keepers 3 Ring Binder.  I didn't care too much for the quality of the original album.
  • This project will not replace my traditional album however this year I will only concentrate on adding special events pages to my family albums and as well as to each child's album.
This is a great way to get your family involved in helping you to document your everyday life.  I am very fortunate that my family supports my hobby so they are always on the lookout for picture ideas along with saving memorabilia for me.

I hope this will help others who are on the fence about undertaking this project.  It is a great way to document everyday life!  I will load more pages soon...life keeps getting in the way of my hobbies! :)

Enabling! Michaels Clearance...

I am so excited about my latest Michaels haul! :)  I typically don't post about my shopping but this was too good to keep to myself! :)  Michaels has a lot of products on clearance and I got everything in this photo for $17!  Yep, you read correct...$17!  That includes $3 (regular price) for the family rubons you see in the middle.

There is a ton of paper here.  White paper on the left is Heidi Swapp's invisible collection.

The Little Boys paper collection by Cosmo Criket on the left was originally $9.99, got it for .99 cents!

The Hero Arts stamps on the right is originally priced at $15.99 and it was on clearance for $1.59!  My only regret is not getting every month in that collection.

I will be going to the Scrapbook Expo in Orlando this weekend, so hopefully I'll get some new goodies to add to my collection!  :)

Get Well Soon

My daughter volunteered me to make a card for a player on her volleyball team that has been out sick.  Now normally this is not a problem for me however, she did this on one of my most overwhelming days with a never ending to-do list.  How do you say no after she proudly tells the team that her mom makes great cards.  It's great to have little fans! :)

Here is the quick and simple card I managed to put together for her. Thought these colors would cheer up an eleven year old girl...everyone else on the team loved it!  I truly enjoy making simple cards...takes all the creative pressure away!

PP paper is from DCWV (dots, stripes & plaids stack) and blue cardstock is from the same collection.

Sentiment is from Hero Arts.

White flower is from Making Memories and I added the green flowers which I believe is from K&C.  I didn't have the original packing so not 100% sure.
